Camping in Brittany :

Camping in Brittany offers the outdoor traveller 800 miles of rocky coastline incorporating numerous bays, buzzing little fishing villages and wide sandy beaches.  Travelling inland happy campers will discover wooded valleys, rolling fields, moors and giant granite boulders.  The most impressive site is that of the prehistoric Carnac standing stones erected even before the pyramids of Egypt !

Breton culture is a gothic mix of menhirs, crosses, cathedrals and castles.  There are strong Celtic roots providing Brittany with its own distinctive traditions which is evident in the local Breton costume and music, traditional and religious festivals and the cuisine namely crepes and cider.  Among some of the highlights are Ile de Sein, a misty and mystical island, Cancale if you have a love for oysters, Dinan which is a gorgeously preserved walled town with its own riverfront port that feels untouched since the Middle Ages, The Cote de Granit Roxe with it’s bizarre pink rock formations and glistening beaches perfect for children.  Faience de Quimper displays beautiful hand-painted ceramics which make perfect craft souvenirs.  The Inter-Celtic Festival celebrates the music and culture of the Celtic nations at Brittany ’s most loved festival.  The abbey fortress of Mont-St-Michel is on the north coast and is a must see.  The Concarneau in the south is an adorable walled town enclosed by granite rocks.

Brittany is certainly one of France ’s most distinctive regions offering an excellent choice in campsites to lure a myriad of sociable campers
