The Tarn, Jonte and Dourbie Gorges
cut deeply into the 'Grands Causses'
to form an impressive natural landscape.
At the MONT AIGOUAL Observatory,
you will discover a meteorological
museum that is unique in Europe, and
thanks to satellite images, you will see
how the clouds move around.
On the GRANDS CAUSSES, the caves of
Aven Arman and Dargilan, the swallowhole
of Bramabiau, the chaos of
Montpellier and old Nîmes where the
rocks look almost like ruins, will take
you into an astonishing mineral world.
A country where ANIMALS ARE KING :
the vulture belvedere allows direct
observation of tawny and black vultures
and the museum recounts the
story of their reintroduction.
The wild Przéwalski horses, an endangered
breed hailing from the Mongolian
Steppes have been safeguarded on
the vast areas of the Méjean Causse.
European bisons and Gévaudan wolves
also find a welcome in Margeride.
